The 4th anniversary celebrations are here....Time for some reflection!

Starting Taalmagic in January 2019, was indeed a very big step for me, especially after being a dedicated corporate IT sector employee for a little over 20 long years. Quite frankly it was a big mindset shift. Looking back, I am really glad that I took that step. And now, it's been 4 years of Taalmagic and the journey has been nothing but educative.

I started this journey with a small desire to play tabla with musicians and absolutely no clue about how will I use this to earn any money at all. My salary went from a cushy number to Z-E-R-O in an instant. That itself was quite a shattering realisation in the beginning. The initial months (or may be the first year and a half) were mostly filled with confusion about what it is that I intend to actually achieve. The one thing that I knew full well was to keep going, one step at a time and the faith that the true purpose will eventually show itself.

Today, as I write this, I am on the threshold of organising our biggest event to date - the 4th anniversary celebrations and it indeed brings me a lot of joy. This is also a good time to take a moment to reflect on the past on where how it began and where it has reached.

In the beginning, I was actually trying out numerous different things at once, to see which one would click. For example, I was offering video/image editing services, audio digitisation, voice over, music production (with absolutely no understanding  LOL) , music classes (tabla/guitar) and of course tabla playing, which ironically was supposed to be the primary focus.

I attended a baithak somewhere early in 2019 and I think that was the catalyst which gave me a lightbulb moment and in July I did my very first baithak (hosted by a friend). The rest as they say is history. As of December 2022, Taalmagic has done 27 baithaks, showcasing both established as well as emerging musicians as well as providing me with an opportunity to do tabla sangath with a wide array of immensely talented musicians.

Now, after 4 years, it is crystal clear in my mind, what it is that I want to achieve through taalmagic. I dream of growing Taalmagic to the level of an internationally recognised platform for performing Indian Classical Music (something on the lines of the Darbar, London).

I am extremely fortunate to have the love & blessings of my gurus, friends & family members and the unshakeable faith and support of my beloved wife - Anshu - in this endeavour.

To conclude, thank you all for your continued support and patronage. I hope to keep working towards the upliftment and promotion of Indian Classical Music.

Namaste 🙏🏽
