Unfortunately the program planned for this Sunday (August 30, 2020) stands cancelled because Shri Padmanabhan has suddenly taken ill and has expressed his inability to perform this weekend.

 

However, we will be back with another exciting concert in September. You shall be informed regarding the same. I hope that you will grace the occasion with your presence.

TAALMAGIC proudly announces Artist of The Month for August 2020, Shri P. Padmanabhan.

P. Padmanabhan has established himself as an able mridangam artiste, in the field of Carnatic music.
He basically hails from Kerala (Alwaye), born and brought up in Mumbai and presently residing in Bangalore since 1994.

He was inducted into the art of playing mridangam at the tender age of 6 years, by his highly musically inclined parents, Smt. Rajeswari and Shri. Ramaiyer Parameswaran, in the year 1971, under a senior Guru - Shri. V.U. Subramaniam in Chembur, Mumbai.
In the year 1975, he was put under the strict and disciplined training of Shri. Bombay P.S. Parameswaran, (Palghat Mani Iyer school) under whom he was trained consecutively until the year 1986.
In the year 1987 and 1988, he had the opportunity to learn face to face under Shri. Palghat.R. Raghu, in the MASTER CLASSES held at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Nariman Point, and Mumbai.

His first stage appearance cum performance was in a double mridangam concert along with with his Guru Shri P.S. Parameswaran at the age of around 12 years, in a sabha concert under the aegis of the famous Shri Shanmukhananda Music Sabha, Sion, Mumbai, for the vocal recital of the then well known Matunga Sisters, (Ms. Lakshmi and Bhagyalakshmi) , Bombay.

Since then, there has been no looking back, but only he has been consistently learning, playing and growing with every music competition and also stage performance that he has been involved, until the present.
He managed to keep up the art, in spite of his tough academic challenges.

He has participated and won several prizes and awards in competitions held at the various music sabhas in Mumbai and also in the inter-school and college fests, organized during those days.
